I adopted Martini (originally Marlee) from the Capital Area Humane Society. When she was surrendered for being a "bad dog", she was thin, with bald patches from collar wear, and scars on her legs from possible older dog correction. And she was only about 3 months old! Frank-the-Tank (aka Frankie) is my little tuxedo monster. He was brought into the clinic at 3 weeks of age after being found in a dumpster. He was suffering from hypothermia and lice. A couple weeks later I took the little fur-ball home. He was so tiny. Now, he’s my big cat and is so mellow. He enjoys being held like a baby and stretching backwards.

Beanie (name for Bernard from Old School) was my first acquired pet. He came to the clinic only a few days old and had been abandoned by his mother. My then landlord took him in and bottle-fed him. When he came over to fix the furnace, I held Beanie while he worked. He saw us together and said “Great, I’ll be back with him in 6 weeks and he’s yours!”. I didn’t think I was ready for the responsibility of pet ownership AND I thought he was joking. Well Matt showed up 6 weeks later
